Pre orders are now on for the Formlabs Form Studio 1 — Desktop LFD™ Resin 3D Printer due early first Q1 2027.
The Form Studio 1 is Formlabs’ compact desktop resin printer, built on the Low Force Display™ print engine. Expect fine 35-micron detail, light-touch support removal, automated resin handling and a 200 × 125 × 235 mm build volume, all in a printer that fits on a bench.
Overview
The Form Studio 1 brings Formlabs’ Low Force Display (LFD) technology into a compact desktop format. It cures each layer using 405 nm light through a masking display. A textured release surface reduces the forces on the part, the resin tank and the printer between layers. You get crisp detail and clean surfaces, and supports come off easily.
It also takes care of the routine work for you. It heats the resin to its ideal temperature, dispenses resin from the cartridge automatically, checks that every consumable is fitted correctly before each print, and keeps you updated through the touchscreen, audio alerts, Dashboard and the Formlabs mobile app.
Key features
- Low Force Display™ print engine. Masked stereolithography (MSLA) with a 35 µm pixel size and pre-tuned anti-aliasing for fine detail.
- Generous desktop build volume. 200 × 125 × 235 mm, with layer heights from 25 to 300 microns.
- Automated resin system. Cartridge-based dispensing with the LevelSense™ ultrasonic sensor keeps the tank at the right level throughout the print.
- Direct resin heating. Heats resin to 25–45 °C depending on the material, for consistent results.
- Light-touch supports. Supports are auto-generated in PreForm and come away cleanly.
- Built-in camera. 1080p camera for remote monitoring, post-print photos and timelapses.
- Flexible connectivity. Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz), Ethernet and USB-C, with remote monitoring via Formlabs Dashboard and the Form mobile app.
- Easy part removal. Optional Build Platform Flex lets you pop parts off quickly.
- Cleaner air option. Pair it with the VOC Extractor (sold separately). Together with Alpha Resins, the system meets UL Greenguard standards.
- Simple maintenance. It can print a cleaning sheet that gathers loose debris from the tank, and the LPU and backlight modules are customer-replaceable.
Resin tank options
- Form Studio 1 Resin Tank: optimised for Form Studio 1 General Purpose resins, for fast prints with great detail and surface finish.
- Form Studio 1 Resin Tank Pro: optimised for material compatibility. It prints all supported Formlabs resins, including the Tough family, and is required for Open Material Mode.
Build platform options
- Form Studio Build Platform: durable matte aluminium surface.
- Form Studio Build Platform Flex: flexible surface for quick, easy part removal.
