Pro resin printing for anyone.
Form Studio 1 brings Formlabs quality to the desktop — razor-sharp minis, models and prototypes in under two hours, with clean, automatic resin handling.
From $2,024.00 NZD incl. GST
Most prints done in under two hours.
Print time stays the same whether you load one part or fill the whole platform. Here's how typical jobs compare.
Arduino case
Speaker enclosure prototype
Pavilion terrain piece
RC car wheels (set of 2)
Typical print time based on Formlabs data: 80th percentile print height (53 mm), 100 µm layers, most materials.
Backlight unit
28 LEDs behind a custom lens array give an even, tightly collimated light field (6 mW/cm²) so resin cures quickly and accurately across the whole platform.
Release Texture V2
A textured lens surface lets air in between the light unit and the film, cutting suction and peel forces so each layer releases faster.
New resin tank
A tough, highly oxygen-permeable film keeps a thin uncured zone at the bottom of the tank — faster layers and fewer supports needed.
Safe enough for the home, workshop or office.
A sealed print chamber, automatic resin handling and a low-odour resin range mean you can put it on a desk — not in a shed.
GOLD
When paired with Alpha Resins and the VOC Extractor — a first for resin 3D printers.
Skin-safe parts
Printed Alpha Resin parts are non-cytotoxic, non-irritating and non-sensitising — fine for long-term skin contact.
Low VOC, low odour
Alpha Resins give off very few VOCs, and the optional VOC Extractor brings emissions close to background levels.
No nasty ingredients
Alpha Resins contain no chemicals with known acute toxicity or known long-term organ or reproductive effects.
Parts that look and fit right.
Sharp detail
35 µm pixels with tuned anti-aliasing for subpixel resolution — perfect for minis, figurines and fine textures.
Smooth surfaces
Low peel forces, light-touch supports and precise light dosing give layer-free finishes that are display-ready or paint-ready.
Accurate assemblies
XY tolerances down to ±0.08 mm, with material settings compensated for shrink, so snap-fits and assemblies work straight off the printer.
Start with Alpha Resins.

Alpha Model
Deep matte finish that holds the finest detail and takes paint beautifully.
Alpha Fast
The quickest Formlabs resin yet — up to 130 mm/hr. Full build volume in under two hours.
Alpha Clear
Optically clear, crisp and dimensionally accurate for see-through parts.
Alpha Grey
Matte grey for display-ready prototypes and parts that fit together.
Alpha White
Clean matte white with fine features and smooth, accurate surfaces.
Alpha Black
Rich matte black for display pieces, housings and finished parts.

Tough 1500
Balances stiffness and ductility — snap-fits, compliant mechanisms and tough enclosures with self-tapping screws.
Flexible 80A
Rubber-like feel and function comparable to 80A urethanes and TPU.
True Cast
Wax-filled for precision casting — jewellery through to engineering parts up to 5 mm thick.
Form Studio 1 is open.
Use the Resin Tank Pro to print most other Formlabs resins, or any third-party 405 nm resin in Open Material Mode — included as standard.
Spend your time making, not calibrating.
Built on the same platform as Form 4 — independently tested at 98.7% print success — with Form Studio 1 testing expected to match.
Factory calibrated
28-point calibration and a full test print before every unit ships.
Validated settings
Every material is tuned by Formlabs engineers across hundreds of parts.
Smart control systems
Sensors manage resin temperature, resin level and print forces automatically.
Long-life consumables
Tanks are built to last 75,000+ layers and tested before they leave the factory.
Release Texture
Stops the film sticking to the LCD like a suction cup, keeping peel forces low.
Remote monitoring
Built-in camera lets you check prints and grab time-lapses from your phone.
Pro results. Learn it in 10 minutes.
PreForm & Form Mobile
Prep prints in minutes with automatic orientation and supports, with full manual control when you want it. Track jobs, get notified when they finish and make time-lapses from your phone. Free, no subscription.

Questions? We've got answers.
What is Form Studio 1 used for?
It's a desktop resin printer for creators, designers, hobbyists and small studios who want professional results — tabletop minis and figurines, cosplay props, product prototypes, art, custom gifts and small-batch parts.
How fast is it?
Most prints finish in under two hours, and print time doesn't change whether you print one part or a full platform. With Alpha Fast Resin it reaches up to 130 mm/hr.
What materials can I use?
Six Alpha Resins (Grey, White, Black, Clear, Fast, Model) plus Tough 1500, Flexible 80A and True Cast, all with validated settings. Most other Formlabs resins work with the Resin Tank Pro, and third-party 405 nm resins can be used in Open Material Mode (manual pour, your own settings).
What's the difference between the Resin Tank and Resin Tank Pro?
The standard tank's film is optimised for Alpha Resins for faster prints and a better supported-surface finish. Some materials — including Tough 1500 V2 and most third-party resins — will damage that film, so they must be printed in the Resin Tank Pro.
How accurate are the parts?
XY tolerances are ±0.5% for 1–30 mm features, ±0.2% for 31–80 mm and ±0.03% for 81–150 mm, with a lower limit of ±0.08 mm.
How long do resin tanks last?
Tanks are consumables — with good care and Formlabs materials they're designed for more than 75,000 layers. The tank film isn't replaceable.
What software do I need?
PreForm — Formlabs' free print prep software. It orients, supports and slices automatically. Form Studio 1 doesn't work with third-party slicers.
What post-processing is needed?
Wash parts in IPA or Formlabs Resin Washing Solution, then UV-cure them. Form Studio Wash+Cure handles both in one compact unit.
Can I turn the camera off?
Yes — fit the included camera cap, switch it off in settings, or unplug the camera cable. Time-lapse is a separate setting.
Can I see one before I buy?
Absolutely. Book a demo at our Albany (Auckland) or Belfast (Christchurch) showroom, or give us a call — we'll run a print for you.
